ABOUT

FROM TERRITORY TO FORM

Every garment begins long before it takes shape in a landscape, in the fibre formed by its climate, and in the knowledge of the hands that transform it.

Ancestral fibres. Living knowledge. Contemporary form. These three elements define Traces of the World: a contemporary textile house exploring the relationships between territory, material, inherited knowledge and modern design.

The project grew from years of travelling and building relationships within textile territories. It began in Mexico, through indigenous wool, native cotton and handwoven cloth in Chiapas and Guerrero, and later expanded into India, from Kutch and Gujarat to Rajasthan and the Himalayas.

Across these different landscapes, the same truth emerged: a textile is never simply a material. It carries the memory of a place, the intelligence of a technique and the relationships that bring it into being.

We collaborate with textile communities, artisans and independent makers to shape this knowledge into precise, contemporary garments. Each collection begins with the material—its texture, weight, irregularity and natural limitations and evolves through the techniques used to spin, weave, felt, embroider and finish it.

Created in limited editions, our garments carry their origins without being defined by nostalgia. They are designed for the present, yet remain open to future layers, new combinations and continued use.

For us, heritage lives through practice, adaptation and fair exchange. Regeneration begins by recognising the people, knowledge and ecosystems behind every textile and creating the conditions for them to continue evolving.

Each piece becomes a connection between body and landscape, memory and possibility, what has endured and what comes next.
